Overall goal


Öko Himal setzt Maßnahmen zur Verbesserung des Gesundheitszustandes der Bevölkerung in zwei entlegenen Bergregionen Ostnepals. Im Rahmen des Programms werden DorfbewohnerInnen zu Fragen rund um Gesundheit und Hygiene geschult, eine Basisinfrastruktur für Trinkwasser- und Sanitäres geschaffen und lokale Gesundheitsdienstleiter beim Kapazitätsaufbau unterstützt. Um die Betroffenen so weit wie möglich zu ermächtigen aktiv für ihre Gesundheits¬rechte einzutreten, kommt der Formation bzw. Strärkung lokaler zivilgesllschaftlicher Organisationen besondere Beduetung zu.

In Folge soll auf nationaler Ebene ein Politikdialog entstehen und gesetzliche Rahmenbedingungen im Bereich Gesundheit positiv beeinflusst werden. Dafür werden lokale, regionale und nationale EntscheidungsträgerInnen einbezogen und ein strukturierter Dialog initiiert. Gleichzeitig wird das Thema - Gesundheit als Menschenrecht - proaktiv verfolgt und dafür relevante Entwicklungen beobachtet und mit aktiver Beteiligung der lokalen Bevölkerung gezielt auf deren notwendige Änderung eingewirkt.


Die Analyse, Dokumentation und Verbreitung erfolgreiche Methoden und Modelle in den beiden Gemeinden ermöglicht einen übergreifenden Wissenstransfer und die Nutzung von Synergien.

Alle Aktivitäten sind in nationale Entwicklungspläne und –programme eingebettet und insgesamt profitieren über 10.000 BewohnerInnen, unter besonderer Berücksichtigung von Frauen, benachteiligten und armen Bevölkerungsgruppen von dem Programm.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
