Ziel dieses Projekts ist es, den nachhaltigen Zugang zu Krediten für HandwerkerInnen und Bauern/Bäuerinnen in Burkina Faso und Senegal zu verbessern.

Die Österreichische Kontrollbank stellt der Spar- und Kreditkassen der HandwerkerInnen in der Region Luga (MECARUL) in Senegal und der Spar- und Kreditkassa der HandwerkerInnnen und Bauern/Bäuerinnen Burkinas (MECAP) einen zinsgünstigen Kredit zur Verfügung. Die Kreditsumme beträgt Euro 250.000 für jedes Mikrofinanzinstitut, diese Summe kann mehrfach über insgesamt fünf Jahre bei jährlicher Rückführung ausgenutzt werden.

Die beiden Mikrofinanzinstitutionen können durch die Ausweitung der Kreditmittel und die erzielbaren Spannen ihre Filialstrukturen aufbauen und verbessern. Ebenso werden die Verantwortlichen der lokalen Spar- und Kreditkassen unterstützt, damit sie die Anforderungen einer kommerziellen Bank an Risikomanagement und Berichtswesen erfüllen können.

Die Zielgruppe der beiden Spar- und Kreditkassen sind lokale HandwerkerInnen und LandwirtInnen. Derzeit hat die MECAP 11.367 Mitglieder und die MECARUL 6.250. KreditnehmerInnen sind Männer und Frauen in gleichem Maße. Parallel zu diesem Projekt fördert die OEZA ein Projekt, das die Stärkung lokaler Handwerkerverbände zum Ziel hat, wobei auch besonderes Augenmerk auf die Berücksichtigung der Anliegen von Unternehmerinnen gelegt wird. Durch die Abstimmung und Zusammenarbeit innerhalb der Projekte wird sichergestellt, dass die Kredite auch tatsächlich jenen Bevölkerungsschichten zu Gute kommen, die ansonsten keinen Zugang zu Finanzmitteln haben und die das Potential zu gewinnbringender Verwendung des Kapitals haben, sodass sie die geforderten Zinsen und die Rückzahlungsraten begleichen können.
