Overall goal



Der wirtschaftliche Zusammenbruch und die Naturkatastrophen in der Koreanischen Demokratischen Volksrepublik haben die Nahrungsmittelversorgung der Bevölkerung drastisch verschlechtert. Sämtliche Bereiche der Landwirtschaft einschliesslich des Saatgutsektors sind von den wirtschaftlichen Schwierigkeiten betroffen. Der akute Nahrungsmittelengpass im März 2004 konnte durch Nahrungsmittelverteilungen, die durch mehrere internationale und bilaterale Geber finanziert wurden, kurzfristig entspannt werden.


Um die Nahrunsmittelsituation der koreanischen Bevölkerung längerfristig zu stabilisieren, wird im vorliegenden Projekt der Deutschen Welthungerhilfe (DHWW) die Saatgutvermehrung gefördert und die Verfügbarkeit von hochwertigem Saatgut in der Provinz Süd Hwanghae verbessert. Dadurch kann die notleidende Bevölkerung auch in den nächsten Jahren ein Mindestmaß an Nahrungsmitteln selbständig produzieren.


Die geplanten Projektaktivitäten umfassen die Bereitstellung von Saatgut an landwirtschaftliche Kooperativen, die weiter vermehrt und anschliessend an Kooperativen zur Produktion von Nahrungsmitteln verteilt werden. Darüber hinaus werden einfache Landmaschinen für Aussaat und Ernte der Kulturarten vom Projekt den Kooperativen nach Bedarf zur Verfügung gestellt. Zur nachhaltigeren Saatgutvermehrung wird Fachpersonal der Kooperativen zu unterschiedlichen Fortbildungsmaßnahmen, z.B. Saatgutmanagement, entsendet. Das Projekt arbeitet mit dem Saatgutamt der Provinz Süd Hwanghae zusammen, um für die Kooperativen die Verfügbarkeit von Saatgut sicherzustellen.
