Overall goal


Das Festival "Salam Orient" findet jährlich im Oktober an verschiedenen Veranstaltungsorten in Wien statt und bietet eine Gelegenheit, sich mit der orientalischen Kunst und Kultur auseinanderzusetzen. Musikalisch fokussiert das Festival 2017 auf eine möglichst große Bandbreite der orientalischen Kultur, und insbesondere auf Frauen. 2018 liegt der Schwerpunkt auf den verschiedenen musikalischen Richtungen und Religionen aus dem Raum Israel/Palästina.


Expected results


Das Festival bietet unterschiedliche Zugangsweisen und methodische Vielfalt (Konzerte, Lesungen, Diskussionsabende, Film und Theater) an. Insgesamt werden mit den Aktivitäten 5.000 Personen direkt erreicht. Über Medienpartnerschaften, social media, KooperationspartnerInnen und Website sollen weitere 50.000 Menschen indirekt erreicht werden.


Target group / Beneficiaries


Zielgruppen sind die breite, kulturell interessierte Öffentlichkeit in Österreich sowie Kinder, Jugendliche und die migrantische Bevölkerung in Wien. Menschen mit Migrations-/Fluchthintergrund werden in die Projektaktivitäten eingebunden. Salam Orient verzeichnet ein breites Spektrum an Partnerorganisationen, die unterschiedliche Zielgruppen ansprechen (u.a. Kulturvereine, die jeweiligen Gebietsbetreuungen der Bezirke, migrantische Vereine, Botschaften, Veranstalter ähnlicher Projekte). Synergien mit internationalen Musikfestivals werden genutzt.


Activities


Das facettenreiche Programm beinhaltet Konzerte, Lesungen, Workshops und Performances. Beide Festivals werden von einem Dialog– sowie einem Kinder- und Jugendprogramm begleitet, das Begegnungsräume schafft. Für 2018 ist eine Kunstausstellung mit heimischen KünstlerInnen und artists in residence aus der Schwerpunktregion geplant. Kooperationen mit u.a. dem Wiener Filmfestival Viennale sollen Salam Orient um die Sparte Film aus dem arabischen Raum erweitern. Durch die Einrichtung einer eigenen Festival-Zentrale soll der Festival-Charakter des Projekts gestärkt werden.


Context


Das Projekt wird bei einem Gesamtprojektvolumen von Euro 157.780 mit Euro 10.000,- (Zweckwidmung) gefördert.
