Das Projektziel ist die Schaffung des Zugangs für weiterführende Bildung von benachteiligten Kindern und Jugendlichen aus den Chittagong Hill Tracts im Südosten von Bangladesch durch den Aufbau eines SchülerInnenheims für ethnische Minderheiten.

Die indigene Bevölkerung der Chittagong Hill Tracts ist durch insgesamt zwölf offiziell von der bengalischen Regierung anerkannten Minderheiten vertreten, die in einer sehr abgeschiedenen und unterentwickelten Bergregion Bangladeschs, im Grenzgebiet zu Myanmar (Burma) leben. Diese Menschen sprechen unterschiedliche, lokal sehr begrenzte Sprachen und haben eine eigene kulturelle Identität. Ein Jahrzehnte lang anhaltender Bürgerkrieg hatte zur Folge, dass diese Region sich nicht adäquat entwickeln konnte, sowohl im Sozialbereich als auch im Infrastrukturbereich. Hunderte Dörfer liegen weit verstreut in den Bergen und sind nur auf Pfaden und zu Fuß erreichbar. In zwölf Dörfern betreibt SONNE-International seit 2004 insgesamt elf kleine Dorfvolksschulen für insgesamt ca. 430 Kinder. Diese Kinder haben nach Beendigung der vierten Schulstufe keine weiterführende Bildungsmöglichkeit, denn nur in der fernen Stadt Alikodom betreibt die Regierung eine öffentliche Mittelschule. Für die besten AbsolventInnen soll nun von SONNE-International in Alikodom ein SchülerInnenheim für die Kinder von Angehörigen ethnischer Minderheiten errichtet und betrieben werden. Das Projekt besteht aus zwei großen Phasen. In den ersten 18 Monaten wird die gesamte Infrastruktur des SchülerInnenheims errichtet. Im Anschluss daran beginnen der Betrieb des Heims, die Aufnahme und die Betreuung der Kinder.

  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
