Overall goal


Das Simen Mountains National Park Integrated Development Project (SMNP-IDP) hat die Erhaltung, Entwicklung und das nachhaltige Management der Umwelt und der natürlichen Ressourcen des SMNP zum Ziel. Es sollen der Status des Weltkulturerbes erhalten und zusätzliche Verdienstmöglichleiten für die lokalen Gemeinden und das Land geschaffen werden. Die Zielgruppe sind etwa 17.000 Familien, die im Nationalpark und im angrenzenden Gebiet leben. Österreich unterstützt dieses Projekt bereits seit 1996. Das vorliegende Vorhaben basiert auf der Evaluierung der Phase III und hat folgende Interventionslinien:

- Verbesserung des Parkmanagements

- Aufbau eines nachhaltigen Tourismuskonzeptes: u. a. Aufbau und Förderung von Ökotourismus

- Intensivierung der Getreideproduktion und Steigerung der Produktivität: u. a. durch die Einführung umweltschonender Technologien

- Verbesserung der Qualität und Steigerung der Produktivität in der Viehzucht

- Rehabilitation und Konservierung der natürlichen Ressourcen im Nationalpark und den Bufferzonen: u. a. durch verstärkte Aufforstung und Rehabilitation von zerstörtem Land

- Ausbau der Kapazitäten der Gemeinden und betroffenen Institutionen.
