Overall goal


Projektziel ist die Verbesserung des Ausbildungsstands der Bevölkerung in den autonomen Karibikregionen Nicaraguas (RAAN und RAAS) sowie die Verbesserung der Ausbildungsqualität an den jungen Universitäten dieser Regionen, URACCAN (Universidad de las Regiones Autónomas de la Costa Caribe de Nicaragua) und CIUM-BICU (Centro Interuniversitario Bluefields Indian and Caribbean University) durch die Finanzierung von Postgraduierten-, Magister- und Doktorantenstipendien für Lehrkräfte derselben.

Aufbauend auf den Erfahrungen mit Süd-Süd-Stipendienprogrammen in Mexiko soll über dieses Projekt 12 Lehrkräften von URACCAN und BICU die Möglichkeit zu einem Aufbaustudium (Postgraduierten-, Magister- oder Doktorantenstudium) in Zentral- bzw. Südamerika geboten werden. Die ausgewählten Studienrichtungen entsprechen dabei dem Bedarf der regionalen Universitäten bzw. strategisch wichtigen regionalen Institutionen in RAAN und RAAS.

Neben der sorgfältigen Auswahl und Vorbereitung der StipendiatInnen ist die fortlaufende Begleitung und Betreuung durch FADCANIC unbedingt notwendig. Nach der Rückkehr verpflichten sich die StipendiatInnen, die erworbenen Kenntnisse FADCANIC und den beiden Universitäten zwei Jahren lang zur Verfügung zu stellen, um Aufbau und Stärkung von Kapazitäten zu unterstützen.


Aufbauend auf dem Vorgängerprojekt 1495-00/02, über das derzeit noch ein Magisterkurs im Fach Sozialanthropologie bei URACCAN Siuna finanziert wird, hat das ggst. Projekt außerdem einen starken Bezug zu den Projekten 1778-01/04 und 1494-00/05. In beiden Vorhaben sind verschiedene Zweigstellen von URACCAN als lokale Partnerorganisationen involviert.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
