Das Kulturaustausch-Projekt Tales of Resilience (ToR) der Linzer KünstlerInnengruppe Time's Up setzt sich mit der Lage, Geschichte und Wanderungen der Tonga-Volksgruppe im Südlichen Afrika auseinander. Es geht um Geschichten der Migration und Umsiedlung, aber auch des Widerstands und der Zukunftsvorstellungen des Tonga-Volkes. Individuelle Anekdoten, persönliche Geschichten bis hin zu kollektiven Ambitionen und Visionen marginalisierter ländlicher und städtischer Minderheiten in Zimbabwe stehen im Zentrum des Vorhabens (story-telling/building). Besonderes Augenmerk wird dabei zeitgenössischen Interpretationen der Mbiramusik und der Tonga Tonkunst zukommen.

In Kooperation mit der ARGE Zimbabwe (Ö) sowie zimbabwischen KünstlerInnen, InterviewpartnerInnen und AlltagsexpertInnen werden 2013/14 entlang der Wanderungs-/Migrationsrouten der Tonga in Zambia, Zimbabwe und Südafrika narrative Strategien recherchiert und in künstlerischen Ausdrucksformen präsentiert. Die Erzählungen sollen in Form eines multimedialen Kunstwerkes (Radiogerät-Installation), mittels Performances und im Internet (Ton, Bild, Video) präsentiert und schließlich in Workshops diskursiv reflektiert werden. Präsentation und Vermittlung erfolgen 2014/15 im Zusammenhang mit einer Tournee der Tonga-Musikgruppe Kunzwana in Zimbabwe, Südafrika und Europa – in Österreich ab Mai 2014 im Rahmen einer Festival- und Clubtour.


Das Projekt wird bei einem Gesamtprojektvolumen von Euro 32.234,- mit Euro 7.000,- (21,72%) gefördert.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
