Transitional Shelter and Latrines for Flood-Affected Households in Balochistan Province, Pakistan
Short Description:
Overall goal
The proposed project is part of Caritas Austria's emergency and emergency rehabilitation program following the floods in Pakistan in the summer of 2010. The overall goal of this program is to improve the living conditions of households affected by the flooding, focusing on the Sindh IDP population who have relocated to Sibi, Nasirabad and Jaffarabad districts in Balochistan province.
The specific objectives of this project are:
- Flood affected households in Sindh and Balochistan have timely access to shelter inputs to improve their living conditions: 1,084 vulnerable IDP households receive kits for safe, adequate, and durable transitional shelter.
- Flood-affected households have access to appropriate sanitation facilities that meet their household needs: 1,084 vulnerable IDP households receive materials and support to construct emergency dry pit latrines and bathing spaces.
All items are made from lightweight materials that are easily transportable if and when the IDPs return to Sindh. Depending on when the floods recede, people will be served either in Sindh or Balochistan.
