Overall goal


Das Projekt wird von dem alternativen Kulturzentrum Stadtwerkstatt (STWST) in Linz durchgeführt. Unter dem Motto Afropea Now! wird im Mai 2014 der Fokus eines 3-tägigen internationalen Festivals auf die kulturelle Avantgarde Afrikas sowie der afrikanischen Diaspora in Europa gelegt. Globale Strukturen im afrikanisch-europäischen Kontext von zeitgenössischer Kunst, Kultur und Wissenschaft werden beleuchtet; aktuelle Tendenzen in den Bereichen Film, Literatur, Musik, Bildende Kunst, New Media und Wissenschaft aufgegriffen. Kunst- und Kulturkooperation sowie Wissensaustausch sollen gefördert, Netzwerke ausgebaut werden. Das Festivalprogramm unter Mitwirkung von renommierten jungen afrikanischen/ afrikanisch-europäischen KünstlerInnen und WissenschafterInnen (u.a. aus Senegal, Frankreich, UK, Nigeria) umfasst mehrere Konzerte (Hip-Hop, Jazz, Afro-Beat), eine Filmreihe und ein 2-tägiges hochkarätiges wissenschaftliches Symposium. Umfangreiche Informations- und Medienarbeit (inkl. TV-und Radiokooperationen) begleiten die Aktionen. Neben dem Austausch mit der lokalen Linzer Kunst-, Kultur- und Jugendszene wird auch auf nationaler und internationaler Ebene Vernetzung forciert. Das Festival in Linz findet in den Räumlichkeiten der Statdwerkstatt (Konzerte, Workshops) und auf einem Schiff (Symposium, Film) am Ufer der Donau statt. Darüber hinaus sind in Kooperation mit dem Weltmuseum Wien und dem Schikaneder Kino ausgewählte Programmpunkte auch in Wien geplant. Dialoggruppen sind primär junge Menschen, ein kunst-/kulturinteressiertes Publikum, afrikanische Communities aus/um Linz/Wien sowie internationale Gäste mit afrikanischen Wurzeln.


Das Projekt wird aus OEZA-Mitteln in der Höhe von Euro 10.000,- (47,62% des Gesamtprojektvolumens) gefördert. Laufzeit: 1. Okt. 2013-31. Aug 2014
