Overall goal


Das Projekt ist die Fortsetzung eines dreijährigen kofinanzierten Projekts, das Ende 1999 abgeschlossen wurde (Trinkwasserversorgung in der Diözese Kilwa-Kasenga, KFS 9618 - Trinkwasser Kilwa; EU: ONG/PVD/1996/687/AUA; BMfaA: EZA-Projekt 1723-29/96 - Zaïre). In der Projektregion gibt es zahlreiche Seen und Flüsse, allerdings ist das Wasser aufgrund krankheitserregender Keime nicht für menschlichen Konsum geeignet. Die Versorgung mit Trinkwasser ist daher ein vorrangiges Anliegen für die lokale Bevölkerung. Der Projektpartner hat in den letzten Jahren gemeinsam mit europäischen Partnern Bemühungen zur Lösung des Problems unternommen. In den Städten Dubie, Lukonzolwa und Kilwa wurden Wasserleitungen installiert, das Brunnenbauprogramm dient der Versorgung der Dörfer. Bisher wurden insgesamt rund 200 Brunnen errichtet, im Rahmen des vorliegenden Projektes werden einige Dörfer zusätzlich berücksichtigt, vorrangig soll aber die bisherige Arbeit konsolidiert und auf eine tragfähige Basis gestellt werden, damit die Nachhaltigkeit auch nach Abschluss der Finanzierung von Aussen gesichert ist. Nach Abschluss des Projektes mit Ende 2002 werden ca. drei Viertel der Gesamtbevölkerung der Diözese Zugang zu Trinkwasser haben.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
