Das Projekt hat die Stärkung der nicaraguanischen Zivilgesellschaft zum Ziel, indem es Partnerschaften zwischen nicaraguanischen Organisationen und ihren österreichischen Partnern (Solidaritätsgruppen, Städte-und Gemeindepartnerschaften) bei der Umsetzung ihrer Kleinprojekte begleitet und den Aufbau lokaler Kapazitäten zur Projektdurchführung fördert.


Der Projektträger CHICA bietet den nicaraguanischen Partnerorganisationen Schulung im Project-Cycle-Management und zu rechtlichen und administrativen Themen an, die für die Arbeit dieser Organisationen von entscheidender Bedeutung sind. Gleichzeitig begleitet das Projekt die Organisationen bei der Identifizierung, der Planung, der Umsetzung und dem Monitoring ihrer Kleinprojekte und fördert den Austausch mit den österreichischen Partnern.


Finanziert mit privaten österreichischen Mitteln (ca. ¿ 700.00,00 pro Jahr) werden rund 30 Kleinprojekte von den nicaraguanischen Partnerorganisationen umgesetzt. Diese Vorhaben stehen im engen Zusammenhang mit den Zielen des Nationalen Entwicklungsplans der Regierung Nicaraguas (2008-2012) und den Millenniums-Entwicklungszielen. Sie werden mit den Zielgruppen und den Gemeindeverwaltungen abgestimmt und mit deren engagierter Unterstützung umgesetzt.

Es handelt sich dabei überwiegend um soziale Initiativen in den ländlichen Regionen Nicaraguas, die in Bereichen wie Kommunalentwicklung, Trinkwasser- und Energieversorgung, Gesundheit, Frauenförderung, Betreuung von Strassenkindern sowie Unterstützung von Kindergärten und Grundschulen (Schulfrühstück), umgesetzt werden und welche trotz des geringen Mittelvolumens eine grosse Wirkung erzielen.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
