Overall goal


Die primäre Zielgruppe besteht aus 59.000 unter der Armutsgrenze lebenden Kindern.

Der schlechte gesundheitliche Zustand der Kinder der armen Fischerbevölkerung in der Region Kerala, Südindien hat mehrere Ursachen:

- Schlechte Versorgung durch das staatliche Gesundheitssystem

- Unter- und Fehlernährung

- Unerschwinglichkeit effizienter medizinischer Kinderbehandlungen

- Mangelhafte Information über Möglichkeiten der medizinischen Versorgung

- Fehlende Kenntnisse in der Betreuung von kranken Kindern und in der Gesundheitesvorsoreg

- Unhygienische Lebensbedingungen


Ziel ist eine deutliche und nachhaltige Verbesserung des Gesundheitszustands der Kinder im Zielgebiet unter Nutzung der effizienten und dauerhaften direkten Verbindung zwischen Samhathi und der lokalen Bevölkerung insbesondere durch den aktiven Einsatz lokaler freiwilliger Hilfskräfte und den von Samhathi gegründeten Gruppen zur Selbsthilfe (Community-Based Organisations, insbesondere Frauengruppen).


Geplante Aktivitäten sind

- Bessere Ausstattung und verstärkter Einsatz der bereits bestehenden mobilen Klinik, die eine ständige sowohl präventive als auch medizinisch-eingreifende Leistung bieten wird;

- Ausbildung und laufende Schulung von 184 ehrenamtlichen Mitarbeitern (zum Großteil Frauen) die ihrerseits die Bevölkerung betreuen und beraten und die Verbindung zu den Gesundheitseinrichtungen unterhalten;

- Gesundheitsschulung und Bewusstseinschaffung zu den Themen Ernährung und Hygiene und für Eltern und Kinder;

- Organisation von Camps für Kinder zur Diagnose und Erstellung einer Datenbank des gesundheitlichen Zustands der Kinder;

- Zusammenarbeit mit den schon bestehenden, von Samhathi organisierten Kinderclubs;

- Anlegen von 620 Gemüse- und Kräutergärten und damit zusammenhängende Schulungen.
