Overall goal


Das vorliegende Projekt wird in fünf von der Nahrungsmittelkrise am meisten betroffenen Regionen Burkina Fasos durchgeführt - Dédougou und Nouna in der Region Boucle de Mouhoun und Bobo-Dioulasso, Kaya und Dori als langfristige Partnerdiözesen der Caritas Österreich/ Innsbruck.


Durch die Überflutungen im August des vergangenen Jahres und das vorzeitige Ende der Regenfälle kam es zu enormen Ernteausfällen für die bereits vorher von absoluter Armut betroffene bäuerliche Bevölkerung. Akut zugespitzt hat sich die Lage dadurch, dass sich die Lebensmittel auf den Märkten enorm verteuert haben.


Das vorliegende Projekt ist als Überbrückungshilfe bis zur nächsten Ernte konzipiert und soll die von Unterernährung und Hunger besonders bedrohten Bevölkerungsgruppen absichern. Parallel dazu setzen die Diözesen ein Saatgutprogramm für 2.150 Haushalte um, mit dem die langfristige Verbesserung der Ernährungssituation gewährleistet wird.


Die Caritas Burkina Faso (OCADES), Partnercaritas der Caritas Österreich, hat im April des Jahres eine Bedarfserhebung in den ländlichen Gebieten durchgeführt und bei den europäischen Partnercaritasorganisationen um Zusammenarbeit im Rahmen eines Nothilfeprogramms angefragt. Vorliegendes Projekt deckt etwa die Hälfte dieses Programms ab und hat zum Ziel, in 5 Diözesen die Ernährung von 450 besonders verwundbaren Haushalten, die von Pfarrkomitees nach objektiven Kriterien ermittelt werden, bis zur nächsten Ernte zu sichern. Über den Zeitraum von vier Monaten (Juli bis Oktober) soll jede Familie Notfallrationen bestehend aus vier Säcken Getreide, 3 Säcken Reis, 1 Sack Bohnen und 4 Kanister Öl erhalten.

  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
