Overall goal


Das Projekt von Hilfswerk Austria wird im Rahmen der EU-Budgetlinie "Social Support Project-Tsunami extention" durchgeführt. Es hat zum Ziel, jene Gruppen auf der Insel Phuket zu stärken, welche noch immer an den Auswirkungen des Tsunami von Dezember 2004 leiden. Es sollen die Lebensbedingungen verbessert, wirtschaftliche Aktivitäten ausgebaut und soziale Bedingungen gestärkt werden. Das Projekt arbeitet mit 13 Gemeinden auf der Insel Phuket, welche fern ab des Massentourismus von dem wirtschaftlichen Wiederaufbau nach dem Tsunami abgeschnitten wurden. Ihre Situation war bereits vor dem Seebeben sehr schlecht.


Es werden Aktivitäten zur Verbesserung der Landwirtschaft, der Fischerei und der Aquakultur gesetzt. In drei Gebieten werden ökotouristische Entwicklungen unterstützt, welche einen gemeinschaftsbasierten und ökologisch sensitiven Ausbau des Tourismus fördern. Alle Aktivitäten werden gemeinsam mit den Gemeinden konzipiert und umgesetzt. Das Projekt wird eng in Zusammenarbeit mit lokalen Behörden und Organisationen implementiert. Es fördert einen ganzheitlichen Ansatz, der soziale, kulturelle und wirtschaftliche Aspekte mit einbezieht.
