Overall goal


Ziel dieser Wirtschaftspartnerschaft ist es, durch die Einführung internationaler Sozial- und Umweltstandards die Arbeits- und Produktionsbedingungen für 1.060 Farmer und FarmarbeiterInnen auf 21 Erdbeer- und 7 Brombeerfarmen im Bundestaat Michoacán in Zentralmexiko zu verbessern.


Neben der Erzeugung von Zucker und Stärke ist die österreichische AGRANA-Gruppe weltweit führend in der Herstellung von Fruchtzubereitungen, z.B. Fruchtpürees, für die Molkerei-, Back- sowie Eiscremeindustrie. Das Tochterunternehmen AGRANA Fruit Mexico kauft Beeren von den lokalen Farmern und verarbeitet sie am nahegelegenen Standort Jacona für den internationalen Markt.


AGRANA Fruit Mexico arbeitet eng mit den zuliefernden Farmen zusammen und unterstützt diese seit geraumer Zeit beim Anbau und im Qualitätsmanagement. Um international wettbewerbsfähig zu sein, unterstützt AGRANA 28 Farmen mit der Größe von 1,7 bis 26 Hektar dabei, ihrer Pflanzungen nach der international anerkannten Rainforest Alliance-Zertifizierung zertifizieren zu lassen.


Im Zentrum der Zertifizierung steht das sozial und ökologisch nachhaltige Bewirtschaften der Farmen, der Schutz der natürlicher Ressourcen, die Erhaltung der Biodiversität, der Gewässerschutz sowie faire und sichere Arbeitsbedingungen für die LandarbeiterInnen.


Aufbauend auf den Erfahrungen dieses Projekts plant AGRANA Fruit Mexico, in weiterer Folge möglichst vielen der insgesamt 125 Vertragsfarmer eine Zertifizierung zu ermöglichen. AGRANA möchte die Erfahrungen im Zertifizierungsbereich auch für Standorte in anderen Ländern nutzbar machen.

  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
