Short Description:

Overall goal


Ziel des Projektes ist es, eine Produktion für biologisch zertifizierte Öle im Senegal aufzubauen und die Produkte in die EU zu exportieren. Im Rahmen dieser WiPa werden Kapazitäten für die Ernte und Verarbeitung von biologisch zertifizierten Ölen für den EU Markt aufgebaut. Die Nebenprodukte (wie Presskuchen) werden lokal vermarktet. Damit werden landesweit vorhandenen Rohstoffe gänzlich verwertet und für ländliche Bevölkerungsgruppen kommerziell nutzbar gemacht. Das Projekt ist marktorientiert. Die Partner reagieren mit dem Vorhaben auf die steigende Nachfrage von Seiten europäischer Kunden nach qualitativen biologisch zertifizierten Ölprodukten.


Expected results


Von dem Projekt profitieren senegalesische Bauern und Sammler (mind. 50% Frauen) sowie Dörfer und Kooperativen durch neue Einkommensquellen sowie die lokale Wirtschaft durch die Schaffung von Produktionskapazitäten und lokale Wertschöpfung. Jährlich werden durch das Projekt mindestens 15 Tonnen Öl produziert. In das Projekt eingebundene lokale Landwirte werden eine Einkommenssteigerung von mindestens 25% (im Schnitt ca. zusätzlich 300 Euro/Jahr) erfahren. U.a. wird durch das Projekt auch der illegalen Abholzung von Brennholz entgegengewirkt.


Target group / Beneficiaries


Von dem Projekt profitieren: 20 Organisationen (wie Zulieferfirmen, Zertifizierer, Labore, ein Biologischer Verband, die Université Gaston Berger, die Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Agriculture, die lokale Wirtschaftskammer und die Kommune Keur Baka), 55 Sammlergruppen und 25 Agrargruppen inklusive deren Familien, 22 MitarbeiterInnen der Baonane SARL sowie UniversitätsmitarbeiterInnen und MitarbeiterInnen der Regierung und Wirtschaftskammer. Insgesamt profitieren von dem Projekt mindestens 420 Personen. Es werden mindestens 12 neue Jobs geschaffen. Projektregion ist Kaolack.


Activities


Konkret werden (1) Lieferketten für die Wildsammlung und Anbauprojekte aufgebaut; (2) die Produktion und Verarbeitung von Ölen gestartet; (3) fachspezifische Schulungen und technische Versuche durchgeführt; (4) biologische Landwirtschaft in der gesamten Wertschöpfungskette implementiert (inklusive Zertifizierung); sowie (5) ein Verband für biologische Landwirte und Unternehmen aufgebaut.


Context


Die Landwirtschaft ist einer der zentralen Wirtschafts- und Beschäftigungssektoren im Senegal. Ihr wird eine wichtige Rolle für die Schaffung von Wachstum, Arbeitsplätzen und Einkommen zugeschrieben. Produktivität und Wettbewerbsfähigkeit leiden nicht zuletzt aufgrund mangelnder Innovations- und Investitionsbereitschaft sowie niedriger Produktionskapazitäten.
