Overall goal


Das Projektziel ist die Förderung der Solarenergiebranche in Uganda, um einen Beitrag zur Elektrifizierung des Landes zu leisten. Die international tätige Signify Foundation, vormals Philips Lighting Foundation, stärkt ihre lokalen Partner, die Installationsfirma Village Energy Pty, und das Enlight Institute, eine mobile Trainingsakademie für Solartechniker, in ihrer technischen und wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung, um einem breiten Personenkreis Zugang zu nachhaltig erzeugter elektrischer Energie zu ermöglichen.


Expected results


Das Projekt ist Teil der Strategie der Signify Foundation, in Uganda entlang der gesamten Wertschöpfungskette mit Herstellern, Händlern, Installationsbetrieben, Trainingsinstituten und Finanzierungs-institutionen ein förderliches Umfeld für den Einsatz von Solarenergie zur Stromversorgung zu schaffen. Village Energy wird dabei unterstützt, bis Projektende 200 Photovoltaikanlagen für Kleinbetriebe, Kooperativen, Schulen und Gesundheits- und Sozialeinrichtungen sowie 15.000 Solarlaternen und Solar Home Systems für Privathaushalte zu installieren. Gleichzeitig wird Village Energy als Importeur von hochwertigen Solarsystemen und als kompetenter Handelspartner für lokale Installationsbetriebe gestärkt.


Target group / Beneficiaries


Zu den Zielgruppen zählen 100 Solartechnikerinnen und 100 Solartechniker, die das Enlight Institute in verschiedenen Provinzstädten Ugandas in achtwöchigen Kursen mit seinem staatlich akkreditierten Trainingsprogramm praxisorientiert ausbildet und sie dabei begleitet, bei lokalen Installationsfirmen beschäftigt oder selbständig unternehmerisch tätig zu werden. Lokale Solarfirmen profitieren von kompetenten Fachkräften. 150.000 Personen profitieren im Rahmen des Projekts durch den verbesserten Zugang zu erneuerbarer Energie.


Activities


Die Projektmaßnahmen umfassen das kaufmännische und technische Training der Mitarbeiter von Village Energie, das Aufsetzen effizienter Vertriebs- und Managementstrukturen, die Weiterentwicklung des Enlight-Trainingsprogramms sowie die Zusammenarbeit mit lokalen Firmennetzwerken und Mikrofinanzinstitutionen.


Context


Laut Weltbank sind derzeit nur rund 8% der ländlichen Bevölkerung Ugandas an das Stromnetz angeschlossen. Die ugandische Regierung unternimmt große Anstrengungen, um bis zum Jahr 2022 durch den Ausbau des Stromnetzes und durch diverse Insellösungen 22% der Landbevölkerung den Zugang zu Elektrizität zu ermöglichen.
