Overall goal


Die ÖEZA unterstützt die Stadt Kitgum seit 1997 in der Rehabilitierung des Wasserversorgungssystems.

Im Zuge der ersten Phase wurde das Wasserversorgungssystem der Stadt Kitgum rehabilitiert und mit dem Aufbau einer selbsttragenden Struktur für den Betrieb und die Verwaltung begonnen. Die Phase 2 ermöglichte den Anschluss von mehreren öffentlichen Einrichtungen außerhalb des Stadtzentrums (Spital, Schulen, Internate usw.) an das Wasserversorgungssystem und im Rahmen der dritten Phase wurde damit begonnen, die Siedlungshygiene im Sinne der Prinzipien der Ecological Sanitation (EcoSan) zu verbessern. Die derzeit laufende Phase 4 (EZA-Projekt 1594-00/2003) zielt darauf ab, neben einer weiteren Verbesserung der Siedlungshygiene die Wasserversorgung der Stadt v.a. durch eine Unterstützung des Betriebs im Operations&Maintenance-Bereich zu stabilisieren.


Das vorliegende Vorhaben (Phase 4a) stellt eine Zusatzfinanzierung zum laufenden Projekt dar und beinhaltet Ankauf und Installation eines Photovoltaic-Systems für die Energieversorgung von max. 2 Wasserpumpen zur Sicherstellung einer konstanten Wasserversorgung für die Einwohner Kitgums, unabhängig von der Sicherheitssituation in Norduganda und der Möglichkeit zur Versorgung der Stadt mit Strom und/oder Diesel für Generatoren.
