Aids Prävention
Kurzbeschreibung:
Projektziel
Mozambique and Malawi are among the 10 countries most affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic and they are also among the 10 poorest countries in the world
CARE has been selected by the National AIDS Council (NAC) and the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Mozambique to take the lead with HIV/AIDS activities along the Nacala Corridor and in northern Inhambane Province. Similarly, GOAL has been selected to take the lead in southern Inhambane Province. The project has been designed in accordance with national AIDS and poverty reduction strategies. There is also synergy between this project and initiatives by several EU member states, which are active partners in HIV-AIDS prevention.
The project focus will be at the community level and will build on relationships - such as the close working relationships with provincial and district-level health personnel, and activities that the two main implementation action partners. CARE and GOAL already have projects in over 600 rural communities, populated by over 600,000 people, in the project zones.
The overall objective of this project is to slow the spread of HIV/AIDS and mitigate its impact on those infected and affected in the Nacala Corridor area of northern Mozambique and southern Malawi and in the northern part of the Maputo Corridor of southern Mozambique. The project will achieve this objective by focussing on the following four components: (1) strengthening integrated HIV prevention, care and support services; (2) promoting positive behaviour change amongst youth and mobile populations; (3) increasing community capacity to respond effectively to the effects of HIV/AIDS; and, (4) enhancing advocacy for the rights of people infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.
