Projektziel


The situation in Darfur remains volatile. Ethnic clashes over resources have increased, confrontations between government troops and armed groups persist, and armed groups continue to splinter and shift alliances, fighting between and among themselves. This has forced more people to flee their homes and join the estimated 2 million already displaced.


In Darfur, the ICRC will continue to work mainly in rural and remote regions to complement the large international aid effort in urban areas. ICRC assistance over the past three years has contributed to an improvement in the economic situation in rural areas, but harvests and livestock productivity are still below pre-conflict levels. In Gereida camp (South Darfur), the ICRC plans to maintain services , including food, for the some 125,000 IDPs until mid-2008, when it hopes to be able to hand over responsibility to suitable partners. The delegation was obliged to resume assistance in the camp in January 2007 after a security incident and the suspension of activities by most aid organizations.


The ICRC's food assistance in Darfur will consist of emergency food rations for up to 120,000 people directly affected by armed conflict as well as of distribution of staple- and cash-crop seeds, destroyed or damaged by conflict.


Beneficiaries will be both IDPs in Gereida IDP Camp in South Darfur as well as other vulnerable persons in Darfur.

  • Sektor: bezeichnet den wirtschaftlichen oder sozialen Sektor des Partnerlandes, welcher mit dem Projekt/Programm unterstützt wird.
  • Tied/Untied: Ungebundene (untied) Hilfe ermöglicht dem Projektpartner im Entwicklungsland - unter Befolgung der lokalen Beschaffungsregeln - freie Entscheidung über die Herkunftsländer im Zuge der Beschaffung von Dienstleistungen und Waren. Gebundene (tied) Hilfe verknüpft die Hilfsleistung auf die Beschaffung aus dem Geberland oder aus einem eingeschränkten Kreis von Ländern.
