Beitrag zu UNRWA Emergency Appeal 2007 Emergency Food Aid Programm Third Round
Kurzbeschreibung:
Projektziel
To mitigate the increasingly deteriorating humanitarian situation in the oPt, UNRWA has reviewed the content of its emergency food basket based on the following:
1- A revised assessment of needs amongst refugees;
2- Recent developments in the prevailing crisis situation;
3- Funding prospects of UNRWA's emergency programmes.
Accordingly, the target number of families benefiting from the Agency's emergency food aid operation has been increased from 158,000 in the first two distribution rounds under the 2007 Emergency Appeal to approximately 162,000 in the third and fourth rounds. Under the same appeal, the Agency also planned to raise the calorific content of its emergency food basket up to international standards (i.e. 76% of the calorific intake recommended by the Sphere Project) and to distribute individual rations instead of rations based on the family size.
The Austrian contribution of (US$ 640,000) will be utilised to cover part of the cost of Flour needed for the third distribution round to be carried out under the 2007 Emergency Appeal, based on multi-donor action. This round, which will benefit 162,000 families, is expected to commence on 21 October, and be completed by 13 December 2007.
By end of the round, the Agency would have distributed a total of 10,587.480 tonnes of flour, 1,324.405 tonnes of rice, 1,324.405 tonnes of sugar, 903.406 tonnes of Lentils, 519.332 tonnes of whole milk powder and 747,636 litres of cooking oil.
The Austrian contribution will cover the cost of purchasing 1,040.990MT of flour, comprising about 9.83 percent of the total quantity of flour that will be distributed under the third round to 162,000 needy families and 4.6 percent of the total cost of the third distribution round to be carried out under the 2007 Emergency Appeal.
