Projektziel


The programme aims to address increased needs of Syrian refugees and internally displaced persons (IDP) during winter.


Erwartete Ergebnisse


The expected result is that most vulnerable Syrian refugees in Syria’s neighbouring countries as well as Syrian IDP will be able to cope with the hardship of the severe weather conditions.


Zielgruppe


The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) aims to reach a total target group of 2.5 million Syrians (1.23 million refugees in Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq and 1.25 million IDPs).


With the Austrian contribution UNHCR can provide fuel vouchers of USD 100 each for 4,500 families (approx. 18,000 persons) during one month or monthly cash grants of USD 100 each for 1,125 families (approx. 4,500 persons) for four months.


Maßnahmen


The activities in the framework of the Regional Winter Assistance Plan include the provision of seasonal cash assistance to households identified as particularly socio-economically vulnerable and living in areas strongly affected by harsh weather conditions. In parallel, UNHCR is distributing core relief items to families in need including stoves for heating, high thermal blankets and winter clothes. Tarpaulins are distributed to those in need of support to isolate their shelter against the elements.

n addition to its regular all-year activities, UNHCR is implementing additional support programmes between November 2015 and March 2016 in Syria and its neighbouring countries hosting large numbers of Syrian refugees (Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq). In order to ensure coherence and the most efficient use of available resources, a joint Regional Winter Assistance Plan has been developed, harmonizing individual country plans, methodologies and targets. UNHCR’s total financial requirements for the 2015/2016 Regional Winter Assistance Plan for the Syria Situation amount to USD 151.7 million.

  • Sektor: bezeichnet den wirtschaftlichen oder sozialen Sektor des Partnerlandes, welcher mit dem Projekt/Programm unterstützt wird.
  • Tied/Untied: Ungebundene (untied) Hilfe ermöglicht dem Projektpartner im Entwicklungsland - unter Befolgung der lokalen Beschaffungsregeln - freie Entscheidung über die Herkunftsländer im Zuge der Beschaffung von Dienstleistungen und Waren. Gebundene (tied) Hilfe verknüpft die Hilfsleistung auf die Beschaffung aus dem Geberland oder aus einem eingeschränkten Kreis von Ländern.
