Contribution to the UNHCR Winter Assistance Plan 2015 for Syria (in the framework of the Strategic Response Plan for the Syrian Arab Republic 2015)

The provision of core relief items (CRIs) continues to be a core component of UNHCR’s internally displaced people (IDP) response.
Erwartete Ergebnisse
The expected result of the project is that most vulnerable Syrian IDPs will be able to cope with the hardship of the severe weather condition.
Zielgruppe
UNHCR, in the framework of its "Strategic Response Plan for the Syrian Arab Republic 2015" is also supporting Syrian IDPs with winter assistance such as seasonal cash grants, high thermal blankets and heating fuel as set out in the "Regional Winter Assistance Plan 2015". UNHCR’s aims to reach 1 million beneficiaries with its Winter Assistance Plan 2015 for Syria, mainly in the governorates of Damascus, Rural Damascus, Homs, Hama, Aleppo, Sweida, Tartous, Latakia and Hassakeh, as UNHCR focus on the delivery in the areas where many agencies are not able to reach given its strong logistic capacity.
With the Austrian contribution, UNHCR will provide winterized core-relief items (CRIs) to 2,250 internally displaced families (11,250 individuals).
Hintergrundinformation
UNHRC's total financial requirements for its work in support of Syrian IDPs as set out in the "Strategic Response Plan for the Syrian Arab Republic 2015" amount to USD 309.8 million. Currently UNHCR assists and protects a total of 4 million people of concern inside syria of which 1,25 million benefit from additional winter assistance.
