Disaster Relief for Victime of Typhoons Ketsana & Parma
This project is in response to the two typhoons, Ketsana and Parma, which hit the Philippines at the end of September / beginning of October 2009. Both typhoons caused massive floods and landslides in several provinces in Luzon.
The project is part of a larger relief program by Caritas Austria and Caritas Switzerland and targets 5000 families out of the total of more than 15.000 families which the entire program aims to support. The relief project was initiated and is being implemented by Caritas' local partner, the Citizens' Disaster Response Center (CDRC).
The overall goal of the project is to alleviate the suffering of those 5000 vulnerable families affected by the two typhoons and to prevent a further deterioration of their living conditions.
Based on the immediate and critical needs of those families, the project objectives are:
1. To ensure the safety of disaster affected families by providing shelter materials.
2. To ensure the well-being of disaster affected families by providing sleeping kits, cooking and eating utensils.
3. To ensure psychosocial support to the most affected population
