Projektziel

The overall goal of the project is to provide emergency assistance to vulnerable populations affected by the crisis in North-West Syria and especially IDPs from Aleppo.

Erwartete Ergebnisse

Caritas Austria in cooperation with the implementing partners FCL, SARD and KADER aims to achieve the following results:

• 7,500 IDPs cover their basic food needs during two months.

• 5 health centres will be supported with meals for 500 patients and staff working in those centres.

• 10,000 individual IDPs (representing 2,000 IDP families à 5 persons) will receive winterisation support with non-food items (NFI), specifically clothes, shoes, fuel for heating or a kitchen set.

Zielgruppe

The target groups are newly displaced people in the North-West of the country, patients and staff of 5 health centres and IDP families who are in need of winterisation support. 10% of families receiving NFIs will be female headed households. Overall 10,500 Syrians will be reached with the project.

Maßnahmen

The overall activities are the production and distribution of cooked meals and bread to IDPs in informal settlements; the production and distribution of cooked meals in health centres; and the distribution of NFI vouchers to IDPs for winterisation.

Hintergrundinformation

After five years of conflict, the humanitarian situation in Syria has worsened in 2016 without showing positive signs for a peace settlement. Eastern Aleppo has been under siege and IDPs who managed to flee are scattered and isolated in temporary informal tented sites in the North-West of Aleppo and in the border area. This has led to food gaps among the IDPs of the region and in particular to newcomers and in newly established settlements. Especially in winter, IDPs need winterisation assistance and depend fully on external assistance.
