This proposal submitted by Kituo Cha Katiba (The East African Centre for Constitutional Development) - KCK - aims at enhancing the participation of the people of East Africa, particularly civil society and the private sector, in influencing the development of the East African Community (EAC). The current mission of KCK is 'to protect and promote constitutionalism, good governance and democratic development in East Africa'The programme intends to fulfil the following objectives:

a) to mobilise civil society and the private sector to participate in making the implementation of the EAC Treaty people driven;

b) to influence the process and progress of the East African Community organs and relevant government institutions in the implementation of the Treaty;

c) to contribute to a positive regional integration that observes the rule of law and human rights.
