Humanitarian Assistance to refugees having fled from the conflict in Syria to Lebanon

Since the beginning of the political crisis in Syria more than 80.000 refugees arrived in Lebanon, according to UNHCR statistics. Caritas Lebanon Migrant Center (CLMC), the local partner of Caritas Austria in Lebanon, is one of the most important NGOs in Lebanon providing support to refugees an migrant since years (Palestinian Refugees, Migrant Worker from Africa and Asia..) More than 5.600 families have already contacted services of CLMC (Social Center, Shelter, hotline). Through the project Assistance to Refugees having fled from the conflict in Syria to Lebanon 2.000 most vulnerable persons (Palestinian having fled from Syria, families with many children, pregnant women) will be provided food and hygiene items. Furthermore clothes for winter, heater and fuel for heating will be distributed to the target group. CLCM is in close contact with other organisations in the region providing support to Syrian refugees, relief activities are coordinated. In addition to the proposed project other support activities are implemented financed by Caritas Austria and other partners from the international Caritas network. Duration of the project: 1.11.2012 – 31.3.2013.
