Humanitarian Assitance to Syrian Refugees and Host Communities in Lebanon
Since the beginning of the political crisis in Syria, round half a million refugees have arrived in Lebanon, according to UNHCR’s statistics. Caritas Lebanon Migrant Center (CLMC), the local partner of Caritas Austria in Lebanonhas been providing support to refugees and migrant workers for years (Iraqi and Palestinian refugees, migrant workers from Africa and Asia).
Through this project:
700 vulnerable families , i.e the equivalent of 3.500 individuals (Syrian and Palestinian refugees from Syria, as well as Lebanese host community members ) will be provided with basic livelihood provisions:
- food parcels,
- hygiene kits as well as
- non-food items, including blankets, matresses, shoes, bedding supplies.
Moreover, the capacities of 60 CLMC staff on child protection, specifically in humanitarian crises, will be increased and their awareness on this issue is raised:
- staff of CLMC will be counselled on child protection issues,
- information sessions for CLMC staff will be held on child protection issues.
This project is carried out in Bekaa Valley (Taalabaya, Zahle, Baalbek), Tripoli, Beirut, and Mount Lebanon and complements the overall emergency response led in favor of populations affected by the Syria crisis.
