Implementing Security Council Resolution1325 on Women Peace and Security in SEE
The overall aim of this project is to advance implementation of SCR 1325 in South-Eastern-Europe, specifally in light ongoing negotiations over the future status of Kosovo and the updating of the Dayton Accord, which will affect the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Applying the multi-pronged strategy, the project will strenghten capacities of both governmental and non governmental institutions to engender processes and strategies in post-conflict reconstruction. This will be implemented through facilitation of bilateral and sub-regional consultations among women in political decision-making positions, support to civil society advocates to monitor and to advocate around these processes, as well as focused intervention targeting the security sector reform in the sub-region.
The project is embedded within the larger UNIFEM SEE-Programme to advance women's rights, democratic governance and peace, focused on capacity building to governments to advance implementation of their commitments to gender equality, as well as support for women advocates to claim their rights. The project will benefit from linkage to components within the larger programme.
