Projektziel

Agriculture is the main source of income for families in rural flood-affected municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Much of fertile land has been washed away or contaminated by the floods in BiH in May 2014 – small farmers lost their production and market links and will not be able to recover by themselves.

This project thus aims to contribute to improving the living conditions and economic recovery of 120 flood affected families in up to five flood-affected rural municipalities where the floods heavily impacted the agricultural production:

Sekovici – Republika Srpska

Žepce – Federation BiH, Zenica-Doboj Canton

Modrica – Republika Srpska

Kladanj - Feberation BiH, Tuzla Canton

Lopare - Republika Srpska

To assure a sustainable income for recovery, the target group requires support to re-establish sustainable agricultural production. Mozaik is able to close two of the biggest challenges that the target group faces in the proposed economic recovery process: a) provision of high quality seedlings and technical support and b) a secured market that assures a sustainable income for recovery through the contract signed with Natural Food LDT .

The families will be equipped with all necessary assets, technical support and know-how for a sustainable berry production to recover their livelihoods. In mobile berry collection points the berries will be professionally handed over to the final buyer Natural Food LTD who committed to buy all berries produced within the project providing the families with a secured minimum income of 3.600 Euro per year. Part of the revenues of the successful berry producers will be used to replicate the model in a second cycle, adding up to additional farmers from other municipalities each year, also after the project implementation has ended
