Konferenz zum 10-jährigen Jubiläum zur Umsetzung der Sicherheitsratsresolution 1325

Projektziel
The conference Women and Peace building in the Western Balkans is organized to commemorate 10 years of UNSCR 1325 and to prepare a set of recommendations for presentation to the United Nations Security Council.
Other objectives are:
- Prepare a set of best practices on 1325 implementation in SEE;
- Share lessons learned in 1325 implementation;
- Strengthened political support and commitment for 1325 implementation in SEE from all partners (national governments in the region, the security sector institutions in the region, regional institutions such as EU and EC and international institutions such UN and NATO);
- Draw attention to drafting processes of national action plans in the region and strengthen support for implementation.
The conference takes place on 25th of June 2010 in Skopje/Macedonia.
Target groups are women's peace and human rights activists of the Southeastern European region and members of gender governance structures at national governments in the region, the security sector institutions, regional institutions such as EU and EC and international institutions such UN and NATO.
Expected Outcomes:
- Strengthened political support and commitment for 1325 implementation in SEE from all partners (national governments in the region, the security sector institutions in the region EUPOL, regional institutions such as EU and EC and international institutions such UN and NATO);
- Background paper outlining state of 1325 Implementation in SEE, gaps and challenges;
- Set of recommendations to be presented by RWL to UNSC on occasion of 1325 +10 Open Debate.
- Declaration and press statement presented to media in concluding session on implementation of 1325 in SEE (to be prepared in advance).
