Hintergrundinformation

Because of protracted conflicts and crises in Uganda and South Sudan, which are not only limited to Covid-19 but exacerbated by it, this project’s needs-based intervention considers both short-term and long-term needs of affected people. The chosen Nexus approach and its integrated humanitarian and development interventions will support target groups and their communities to transition from relief to recovery and onwards to development. “Leave no one behind” will intervene in two main ways: Firstly, it will provide humanitarian aid to the target groups to cover their basic needs (food, NFIs) as well as Covid-19 mitigation measures (R2+R3). Furthermore, the project’s priority is protection of the target groups, which means special focus and capacity building of staff and targeted individuals on GBV prevention and support of GBV survivors, safeguarding and child protection (R1). Secondly, the project will support the target groups in improving their livelihoods sustainably by building their social, human, financial and natural capital (R3+R4). Result 5 will improve capacities of partners, target groups and communities.
