Medical Supplies for Victims of Libya Crisis
Kurzbeschreibung:
Projektziel
In the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya (Libya), the armed conflict between the government and opposition forces has been going on for several months. Currently, there is no end in sight within the near future. The fighting has killed many and wounded thousands of people already. Thousands of people have fled to areas within the country, which are still safe, or abroad, mainly to Egypt and Tunisia. Vital Infrastructure has been damaged.
The funding provided under this project aims to contribute to alleviating the suffering of the affected population by providing urgently needed medical supplies.
The Austrian Red Cross has long-standing experience in the provision (incl. purchase and logistical delivery) of medical supplies to natural and man-made disaster scenarios. As part of the Red Cross/Red Crescent movement with its focus on health interventions in disaster settings, the provision of medical supplies is one of the standard procedures of the Austrian Red Cross.
With the funding provided, the Austrian Red Cross is thus purchasing medical supplies and transporting them to Benghazi Airport in Libya.
