Kurzbeschreibung:

Projektziel

The Nyasare Water Supply Association (NWSA) has finalized implementing phase I of the Migori Town Water and Sanitation Project. Phase I saw the association improve its water supply infrastructure, its governance structures and sustain its operations. Phase II builds on the successes as well as addresses the weaknesses identified through assessments and audits.

Phase II seeks to achieve four key results:

o Further improve the association's internal governance and strengthen its management and operations.

o rehabilitate and improve the water supply infrastructure

o Enhance the protection of the water catchments area

o Increase of the knowledge and improve the communities practices on sanitation

The project therefore contributes to the sustainability of the services provided by NWSA to the communities in and around Migori town.

Verbindung zu Vorprojekten: EZA Projekt 1302

The "Nyasare Water Supply Project" implemented a water supply scheme and formed a local water association (NWSA) responsible for operation and maintenance. "Migori Town Water Supply and Sanitation Phase 1" was to assign to NWSA a much stronger role as local operator and implementer using local consultants and contractors.

This handing over of responsibility for project implementation to the local partner by simultaneous reduction of activities of the Austrian Implementation Agency is the overall goal of the Austrian Development Cooperation.
