Projet de renforcement des capacités de la FECOPAO (PRCF) - Stärkung des Dachverbands für ländliche Kooperativen im Westen Burkina Fasos
Kurzbeschreibung:
Projektziel
The FECOPAO Capacity Development Project (PRCF) supports five cooperatives in the South-Western provinces of Bale and Houet in their objective to improve food self-sufficiency and revenues by a sustainable increase in diversified agricultural production. By 2015, the coverage of cereal requirements in the project area is expected to rise by 2 %, while revenues are expected to increase by 20%.
The project is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Water in partnership with the Federation of Western Agricultural Production Cooperatives (FECOPAO). Five farming cooperatives and their members constitute the target group, i. e. 5,153 rural family holdings with c. 31,000 members and 627 associations with c. 12,000 individuals. The project thus targets c. 43.000 people.
It aims at strengthening the capacities of the cooperatives and their members in terms of institutional and management capacities, technical skills to improve production, supplies and marketing as well as networking within the national and international cooperative movement.
The project is in line with the Burkina Faso’s national development strategy and the rural sector policy. It covers five rural communes in Bale and Houet and consolidates experiences gained in previous project phases supported by the Austrian Development Cooperation. FECOPAO will contribute 13.75% of the total costs, and the Government of Burkina Faso will contribute 5.78%.
