The project Development Partners’ Support to GTP Implementation Process in Ethiopia aims to provide support to the Government of Ethiopia in its effort towards achieving its national development plan (Growth and Transformation Plan - GTP) and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by (1) building the development planning capacity of the Government and funding strategic analytical studies; (2) enhancing dialogue among development partners and Government; and (3) supporting the aid effectiveness agenda.
The Development Assistance Group (DAG) financing this Phase IV comprises 27 multilateral and bilateral partners. The DAG has 4 Thematic Working Groups, comprising the GTP working group (incl. M&E and PFM), Governance (incl. issues civil society, justice, safety, conflict), the Donor Group on Gender Equality (DGGE) and the Private Sector Development & Trade working group.
The project is nationally-executed by the Ministry of Finance & Economic Development (MoFED) and the National Planning Commission (NPC).
It is overseen by a Steering Committee composed of a Chair from MoFED, two DAG co-chairs and a UNDP representative.
Expected results are:
•1 consultation meeting and report on the Annual Progress Report on GTP and MDGs
•2 High Level Forum meetings per year to discuss high-level policy issues
•At least 1 poverty analysis report (GTP, MDG)
•12 DAG Head of Agencies meetings per year
•Technical assistance provided to the DAG on governance and safeguards for multi-donor program targets
•3 government officials trained annually in aid management
•Number of official DAG letters to Government of Ethiopia on development related policy issues
