Projektziel

In order to improve the human rights situation, the Republic of Moldova opted for developing a National Human Rights Action Plan, as recommended by the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action adopted at the World Conference on Human Rights (1993). In December 2001 the Parliament adopted a decision about the establishment of the Coordinating Committee for the Development and Implementation of the National Human Rights Action Plan, its composition and regulation. At the request of the Government, in January 2002, under the global HURIST Programme, UNDP launched a project "Support to the Development of the National Human Rights Action Plan in the Republic of Moldova" .

The activities to be supported by ADA include: exchanges of experience with Lithuania and Croatia on national systems for effective implementation and monitoring of human rights actions, undertaking a second sociological survey in 2007, to measure the public perception on the progresses made by the state in ensuring the respect of human rights, support the Committee for Human Rights of the Parliament in undertaking public hearings of NHRAP chapters, feeding into the reporting on the EU-Moldova Action Plan, supporting the Green Line of the Centre for Human Rights, work with journalists to develop and publish a monthly supplement on human rights, to be distributed through national and local newspapers, organizing a Gala of Awards in the framework of the International Human Rights Day on 10th of December, where the most active human rights focal points, NGOs and mass-media representatives will have the opportunity to share the best practices in their work and be rewarded for their active contribution in the promotion/protection of the human rights in the Republic of Moldova.
