Zielgruppe

As a network organisation, WANEP and its member organisations are involved in peacebuilding and conflict prevention in every Member State of ECOWAS. Its Regional Secretariat is in Accra, Ghana, and serves as the coordinating hub for the 15 country secretariats (National Networks). This organisational set up allows the WANEP country secretariats to address the unique challenges that each Member State faces and to find local solutions for them within the broad operating framework and rules of engagement unique to WANEP. This avoids the development of one-size-fits-all solutions that may not be suitable for every Member State. Each National Network has the authority to partner with its government and state institutions, communities and national level member organisations in various programmes with technical support from the regional secretariat.

About 4.200 people will directly benefit from ADA´s support.

Maßnahmen

Main activities will be institutional and strategic capacity building, trainings; research; organizational capacity development; conflict early warning data collection, analysis and reporting; mediation and conflict prevention; gender promotion; post-conflict reconstruction programs for youth and ex-combatants; and support ECOWAS, national and sub-national partners in developping policies and action plans.

Over the past twenty-four years, WANEP has established National Networks in fourteen Member States of ECOWAS and a National Focal Point in Cape Verde. WANEP has about six hundred (600) member organisations across the region.
