Projektziel


The World Editors Partnership Program (WEPP) supports editors-in-chief and online editors coming from developing countries. One of the World Editors Forum (WEF) long-term objective is to have 40 editors (out of the overall 400 members) from developing countries: Editors-in-chief from the poorest countries will have the possibility to profit from the Editors Forum contents and networking opportunities, which are run by the WEF, a division of the World Association of Newspapers devoted to senior news executives.


The WEPP aims to: 1) Help editors from emerging countries to successfully run independent newspapers, by enhancing their managerial skills. 2) Integrate the sponsored editors into the global community of journalism professionals despite cultural or financial issues. 3) Develop specific skills related to the new media and the concept of integrated newsroom. 4) Improve the participants skills in investigative journalism and community journalism (local coverage).

Given the fact that this years' Editors Forum is held in Cape Town, South Africa, WEF decided to keep a special focus on African editors: of the 40 WEPP participants, at least 23 will be African.

In particular, one editor-in-chief from each of the Austrian Development Cooperation priority countries and one from some of the partner countries in Africa (Cape Verde, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Uganda, Mozambique, Senegal, Rwanda and Burundi) will be sponsored by this project.

The countries listed above were selected with the collaboration of two African organizations: SANEF (South African National Editors' Forum) and TAEF (The African Editors Forum).

    • Andere Geber - Diverse Finanzquellen, die dem jährlichen Geschäftsbericht der ADA im Detail zu entnehmen sind.
  • Modalität: definiert die Art der Hilfe (z.B: Sektorbudgethilfe, Kernbeiträge an multilaterale Institutionen, Projekthilfe, Technische Assistenz (personelle Hilfe), Bildungsarbeit im Inland, etc.)
  • Sektor: bezeichnet den wirtschaftlichen oder sozialen Sektor des Partnerlandes, welcher mit dem Projekt/Programm unterstützt wird.
  • Tied/Untied: Ungebundene (untied) Hilfe ermöglicht dem Projektpartner im Entwicklungsland - unter Befolgung der lokalen Beschaffungsregeln - freie Entscheidung über die Herkunftsländer im Zuge der Beschaffung von Dienstleistungen und Waren. Gebundene (tied) Hilfe verknüpft die Hilfsleistung auf die Beschaffung aus dem Geberland oder aus einem eingeschränkten Kreis von Ländern.
