Kurzbeschreibung:
Projektziel
With the Austrian assistance, the Department of Tourism completed a Tourism Master Plan (Sustainable Tourism Development Strategy - STDS 2005) to guide the growth of Bhutan Tourism Industry. A number of activities have been identified in the Tourism Master Plan (STDS 2005) for development under the implementation strategies. The strategies are sub-divided in to short term, medium term and long term based on various timeframes. The implementation of the Master Plan strategies is intended to bring more balanced regional development, equitable distribution of earnings from Tourism, community participation, village tourism etc and in a nutshell the tourism sector of Bhutan will make efforts to focus towards pro-poor tourism which will be in alignment with the main objective of the 10th FYPs of RGoB as well as the OEZA guidelines. It is crucial that the Department develop a sound work plan for the implementation of the short, medium and long term programmes/activities of the Tourism Master Plan (STDS 2005).
In the framework of this Project the Department of Tourism will receive assistance towards the implementation of the Master Plan. The project, with the assistance of short term Expert, will prioritize programmes/activities based on the recommendations of the Project Progress Review Meeting (PPRM) and identify capacity building activities which are relevant/necessary for the implementation of the Tourism Master Plan (STDS 2005). Another output of this project is the classification of tourist accommodations and the training of the relevant Bhutanese monitoring bodies for this classification system.
