Projektziel

Ziel des geplanten Projekts ist es in Bangladesch und der Elfenbeinküste die Lebensbedingungen von Menschen mit Hörbehinderungen zu verbessern, d.h.

- das Bewusstsein für Hörschäden und ihre Ursachen zu stärken

- Diagnose- und Rehabilitationsmöglichkeiten für Gehörgeschädigte zu schaffen und

- die statistische Datenlage und unter lokalen Fachleuten das Wissen über Hörschäden und ihre Behandlung zu verbessern.

Erwartete Ergebnisse

Bangladesch:

Training and workshops conducted

• 120 midwives and nurses are trained in 3 years (1 training per semester, approx. 20 participants each)

• 150 self-help group members, parents/mothers, primary and SPED teachers are trained in 3 years (1 workshop per semester, approx. 25 participants each)

Establishment of diagnosis systems, research and analysis capacities

Valid hearing impairment statistics are available for Bangladeshi authorities

• Implementation of technical infrastructure at NI-ENT and PISER is completed within the first year

• 10 local experts are trained by WHC in maintenance of hard- and software within the first year

• Data collection starts in autumn 2019

• 500 school kids screened until autumn 2020

• Consolidated statistical report available until Aug. 2021

Partner institutions are able to perform hearing impairment diagnosis and provide a treatment plan

• 10 experts are trained as know-how and awareness multipliers “Quality of Life” in within the 1st semester

• 10 ENT physicians received further training by MERF and WHC (1 seminar per semester, total 6 seminar units)

• 45 physicians are trained in 3 years through the multipliers-experts (1 Workshops per year, approx. 15 participants each)

Rehabilitation experts for hearing impaired people available Establishment of low-threshold train-the-trainer courses

MED-EL International Rehabilitation Academy“

• The content is translated and localised available within the first semester

• 20 multipliers (get trained in the 1st pilot training until August 2019, (afterwards execute by PISER & HICARE see below)

Training of Trainers

• 8 multiplier experts at PISER and HICARE complete their ToT within the first 3 semester

• 60 care-takers are trained by PISER and HICARE in the 4th-6th semester (3 semester*20 people=60 participants)

BSc study programme at NI-ENT & PISER is established

• Curriculum is developed within the 1st semester

• Training content & e-learning modules are localised until May 2020

• 10 faculty staff members are trained (6 ToT block seminars conducted by WHC and MERF)

Rollout 1st pilot trainings

• 10 study entrants start their training in 2019 in each institution (total 20 students)

• Each following year another 20 students start their BSc

• The first graduates start their practical 4th in 2021

• The first 20 graduates enter the labour market in 2022, after the project end.

Côte d'Ivoire:

Training and workshops conducted

• 90 healthcare professionals (midwives, nurses, general practitioners, paediatricians) are trained within 3 years (1 seminar per year, 30 participants each)

• 180 care-taker: members of self-help groups, parents (mothers), primary and SPED teachers are trained within 3 years (1 Workshop per semester 30 participants each)

• Communication campaigns will be performed to disseminate right information and educate people on multiple levels on hearing loss, causes, consequences and solutions

Establishment of diagnosis systems, research and analysis capacities

Valid hearing impairment statistics are available for the Ivorian authorities

• 6 health clinics and general hospitals are equipped with technical infrastructure for adequate screening within 2019 (Abobo-Sud, Bingerville, Bouaké, San-Pédro, Gagnoa and Korhogo)

• 28 healthcare professionals are trained as research experts to conduct hearing screening within January 2019

• Data collection and case recruitments start in the 1st semester (9-month longitudinal study)

• 1.200 people (min.) got screened and according data is recorded

• Statistics on prevalence, analysis and final report available until January 2020

DU Study Programme at the UFHB – Université Félix H. Boigny is established

• Kick-off event within the 1st three project months

• Curriculum is developed and approved within the 1st semester

• 10 faculty staff members trained in Audiology within the 1st year

Rollout 1st pilot trainings

• 10 Ivorian students start their training within the 1st year

• Each following year another 10 students (5 of them are from other countries in West Africa) start the D.U. in Audiology

• The first 10 graduates enter the labour market in 2020

Study Programme at INFAS and UAO is established

• Kick-off event: within the 1st three month of project implementation

• The curriculum is developed and approved within the first project year

• 8 faculty staff members trained until September 2019

• Regular Training of Trainer events and exchange on the course of the study programme

Rollout 1st pilot trainings

• 10 Ivorian students start their training in October 2019

• The first graduates enter the labour market in October 2022

• Each following year another 10 students start their training

• The occupational group “speech- and language therapist” is officially acknowledge in Ivory Coast until September 2021

Establishment of low-threshold train-the-trainer courses

• 10 Multipliers trained for “Hearing Journey” (5 OIPA staff, 5 SPED teachers received a training of trainers

• 1 localised manual “Hearing Journey for care-takers” is developed by OIPA and SIORL within the 1st semester

• 120 care-takers received training by OIPA (quarterly awareness trainings for 10-15 care-takers) • Interim reports and final report

Maßnahmen

Die Aktivitäten reichen von Trainings, Workshops und Informationsveranstaltungen bis hin zur technischen Ausstattung für die statistischen Erhebungen und zum Screening von Hunderten Schulkindern.

Hintergrundinformation

Das Projekt wird von der Innsbrucker Firma MED-EL umgesetzt, einem von drei Hörimplantate-Herstellern weltweit. Als lokale Partner fungieren Firmen, NGOs, Universitäten, Kliniken, Ausbildungsinstitute. Alle Maßnahmen werden nach Projektende durch die lokalen Träger weitergeführt. Für MED-EL dient das Vorhaben der Weiterentwicklung des Unternehmens in neuen Märkten: Die Elfenbeinküste ist der Ausgangspunkt für Maßnahmen im frankophonen Afrika, Bangladesch für Südasien.
