Rehabilitation of 7 Health Centres and 60 private households after the 2005 floods in Bulgaria
Kurzbeschreibung:
Projektziel
Around 70% of Bulgaria have been affected by the floods and torrential rainfalls in the summer of 2005. The consequences are immense damages to public infrastructure as well as private property, which will take years to repair. Local health centres are amongst the most heavily affected public property and the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) was asked for reconstruction support by the respective authorities. In addition, many people are lacking shelter for the approaching winter period as their houses are partly destroyed. The livelihoods of the affected rural population are endangered, as most of the agricultural tools and devices have been destroyed and essential resources like yield, seeds and animals have been lost.
The project aims at supporting the most vulnerable people and families in the 12 affected regions of the country so that they will be able to get through the winter period 2005/2006 with their basic needs in health care, housing/shelter and nutrition being covered. The rehabilitation of 7 public health centres forms part of the project as well as the rehabilitation of 60 private houses and the supply with household goods (heaters), animals and seeds through the BRC and its nation wide organized network of local branches as focal points for the involved BRC volunteers.
