Overall goal


Der Verein CHIALA veranstaltet jährlich das 3-tägige Open-Air-Chiala Afrika Festival. Drei Tage lang werden damit die Sichtbarkeit von afrikanischen Kunst- und Kulturschaffenden und die gesellschaftliche Teilhabe von AfrikanerInnen in Graz bzw. in der Steiermark gestärkt. Das Festival versteht sich als Brückenbauer zwischen Österreich und den facettenreichen Realitäten Afrikas. Es soll dazu beitragen, ein differenziertes Bild in einem globalen Kontext zu entwickeln, und Dialog- und Begegnungsräume zu schaffen.


Expected results


Direkt werden jährlich rund 6.000 FestivalbesucherInnen erreicht, dazu kommen rund 1.000 Personen, die im Vorfeld des Festivals an Veranstaltungen teilnehmen. Indirekt werden durch Berichte, mediale Berichterstattung und Synergien mit anderen sozialen und kulturellen Einrichtungen rund 10.000 Personen erreicht. Durch das Festival wird eine differenzierte öffentliche Wahrnehmung der afrikanischen „Communities“ nachhaltig gefördert. Das Festival rückt positive Rollenbilder von AfrikanerInnen in den Mittelpunkt, vermittelt die kulturelle Vielfalt Afrikas, schafft Begegnungen und versteht sich als Beitrag gegen Stereotypen und Rassismen.


Target group / Beneficiaries


Zielgruppen sind die allgemeine und an Kunst und Kultur interessierte Öffentlichkeit, Erwachsene, Kinder und Jugendliche, die afrikanischen „Communities“ in Österreich, Kunst- und Kulturschaffende sowie JournalistInnen, MeinungsbildnerInnen und PolitikerInnen.

Kooperationen mit etwa 15 etablierten Kulturveranstaltern und die Zusammenarbeit mit weiteren 30 Akteuren mit der regionalen Ausrichtung Graz/Steiermark sind vorgesehen. Über die Weiterentwicklung von Kooperationen und Netzwerken erfolgt eine Erweiterung und Internationalisierung des Festivalgeschehens, Medienpartnerschaften werden fortgeführt. Chiala ist mit den afrikanischen Communities in ganz Österreich gut vernetzt.

Das Programm umfasst Live-Musik, Tanz und Show, Workshops, Erlebnisgastronomie, Diskursveranstaltungen zu Themen rund um Afrika, Migration und Multikulturalität sowie u.a. Bazar und Speakers‘ Corner.

Context


Das Projekt wird bei einem Gesamtprojektvolumen von € 514.000,- in der Höhe von € 20.000,- (Zweckwidmung) mit einer Laufzeit von 2 Jahren gefördert.
