Contract partner: ICRC - International Committee of the Red Cross - Switzerland Country: Äthiopien Funding amount: € 350.000,00 Project start: 01.01.2012 End: 31.12.2012

Short Description:

Overall goal

Preventive mine action is an integral part of ICRC field operations, which aim

to protect and assist all victims of conflict. In 2012, the ICRC will pursue its

preventive mine-action activities around the world, focusing on countries

where the threat of mines/ERW is greatest, particularly those caught up in or

emerging from armed conflict. As a result of its multidisciplinary approach to

reducing the impact of weapon contamination, most preventive mine-action

activities are implemented as part of the various ICRC programmes such as

protection, economic security, and water and habitat.

In order to support the ICRC in continuing these large scale

humanitarian activities on behalf of the conflict victims, the Austrian Government has decided to make available this contribution to the ICRC Mine Action Appeal 2012, earmarked specifically for the ICRC Mine Action activities in Ethiopia.
