Contribution to UNFPA Haiti Program
Short Description:
Overall goal
The humanitarian aid measures under this grant are financed from the Austrian Foreign Disaster Aid Fund.
The grant is a contribution to UNFPA's response to the earthquake in Haiti of 12 January 2010, as outlined in the UN 'Haiti Revised Humanitarian Appeal'.
Despite a massive concerted humanitarian response, the situation on the ground remains very precarious. UNFPA aims to address and alleviate the vulnerabilties of the people affected by the earthquake by providing support in the following areas:
" Prevention and response to Gender-Based Violence, with the UNFPA activities including:
o Protection of the rights of the affected people
o Creation of women and child-friend spaces
o Provision of psychosocial support to affected populations at community level
o Mainstreaming gender throughout the Haiti earthquake humanitarian response, across all clusters
o Protection of women, youths and people with special needs impacted by the Haiti earthquake in the Dominican Republic as well.
" Reproductive Health Services: Ensuring women and girls receive those essential services, among others by providing emergency reproductive health kits to the earthquake affected population.
