Generation in Action Development Association (GADA) ist eine lokale NRO in der Region Oromiya in Zentraläthiopien und engagiert sich seit einigen Jahren in der Verbesserung der Trinkwasserversorgung, unterstützt Selbsthilfegruppen von Frauen und hilft bei der Erwachsenenbildung.

Aufbauend auf mehrere Jahre Arbeit im Dandi Distrikt hat sich GADA die Abschaffung der weiblichen Genitalbeschneidung (female genital mutilation, FGM) zum Ziel gesetzt. Das vorliegende Projekt unterstützt eine einjährige Kampagne zur Bewußtseinsbildung für alle Bevölkerungsgruppen und soll in eine öffentliche Deklaration, geführt und unterstützt durch lokale religiöse und weltliche Dorfältere, zur Abschaffung dieser Tradition münden.

In Seminaren und Workshops sollen Beschneiderinnen, MitarbeiterInnen der lokalen Behörde und des Gesundheitsdienstes, Hebammen, LehrerInnen und VertreterInnen von Frauen- und Jugendgruppen, aber auch religiöse und weltliche Würdenträger über die Folgen, insbesondere die gesundheitlichen Auswirkungen, der Beschneidung informiert werden. Bei den TeilnehmerInnen soll damit ein Umdenkprozess ausgelöst werden. 30 Leiterinnen von Frauengruppen erhalten eine Ausbildung in Frauenrechte, Umgang mit Gewalt gegen Frauen und FGM. Gefördert wird auch der Aufbau von Anti-FGM-Klubs auf Distriktsebene und in 5 Schulen. Schwangere Frauen und BesucherInnen der Gesundheitszentren sind eine weitere Zielgruppe für Information bezüglich FGM. Die Aktivitäten sollen in einer 5-tägigen öffentlichen Kampagne gegen FGM und der Formulierung und Verabschiedung einer Verordnung gegen FGM durch die traditionellen Führer kulminieren.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
