Overall goal


Uganda hat eine sehr hohe Analphabetenrate (über 70% vor allem bei der Bevölkerung im Alter von 16- 60 Jahren). Analphabetismus und mangelnde Grundbildung - vor allem bei Erwachsenen - sind ein Hauptentwicklungshindernis.


Das A-Z Programm Austria - Uganda versucht unter Einbindung der Öffentlichkeit in den Regionen Luwero, Kagooge, Ngoma sowie Katikamu den Menschen Bildung näher zu bringen. Ziel ist die Verbesserung der Chancen und Lebensqualität der dort lebenden Menschen.


Hauptzielgruppe sind Frauen, da sie die Aufgabe der Kindererziehung innehaben. Gebildete Eltern können das Wissen an die Kinder weitergeben und die Bildung fördern. Somit ist das Projekt auch indirekte Hilfe für Kinder.


Das Projekt bietet:

" Grundkenntnisse in Lesen, Schreiben und Mathematik, Hauswirtschaft

" umfangreiche Aufklärung über HIV und Familienplanung, Ernährung, Hygiene, Gesundheit.

" Lehrveranstaltungen: Englisch, Computer, Bienenzucht etc.

" wirtschaftliche Orientierung (vor allem in Bio-Landwirtschaft, Micro-Finanz) für die Bevölkerung in Kasana-Luwero Diözese.


Das Unterrichtsprogramm findet 3-mal wöchentlich statt. Derzeit gibt es 9 qualifizierte Lehrpersonen, die sich vor allem auf die Muttersprache Luganda spezialisiert haben. Durch den Gebrauch der Muttersprache kann die kulturelle Identität zusätzlich gestärkt werden.

    • Others - various other donors are listed in ADA’s annual business report.
  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
