Overall goal


Das Klimabündnis ist eine globale Partnerschaft zum Schutz des Weltklimas zwischen Kommunen in Europa und den indigenen Völkern des Amazonas-Regenwaldes. Seit 1993 besteht diese Partnerschaft auch zwischen den österreichischen Klimabündnismitgliedern und FOIRN, einem Dachverband indigener Basisorganisationen am Rio Negro. Neben der Vertretung indigener Interessen auf nationaler und internationaler Ebene bemüht sich FOIRN um ein regionales nachhaltiges Entwicklungsprogramm, das eine selbst bestimmte und kulturell angepasste Entwicklung mit Respekt für Mensch und Natur anstrebt.


Das Anliegen ist die Information über die Bedeutung erneuerbarer Energiequellen für Klima- und Umweltschutz, für die Armutsbekämpfung, zur Sicherung von Menschenrechten, zur Überwindung der Abhängigkeit von fossiler Energie und auch die Risiken für benachteiligte Bevölkerungsgruppen, die durch die Produktion von Biotreibstoffen für den Export entstehen.


Gleichzeitig werden Alternativen und Handlungsmöglichkeiten aufgezeigt und umgesetzt, um zu einer sozial gerechteren und ökologischen Entwicklung beizutragen. Vorrangige Zielgruppen sind EntscheidungsträgerInnen und MultiplikatorInnen in den 630 Mitgliedsgemeinden, sowie auf Landes- und Bundesebene, weiters Schulen, Einrichtungen der Erwachsenenbildung, lokale Initiativen im Umwelt- und entwicklungspolitischen Bereich und die Medien. Zur Umsetzung sind rund 60 Vorträge und Referate, 10 Workshops, Pressearbeit und die Themeneinbringung bei verschiedenen anderen Veranstaltungen vorgesehen.


Das Projekt wird bei einem Gesamtprojektvolumen von EUR 43.002,14 in der Höhe von

EUR 27.000,00 (62,79 %) gefördert.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
