Overall goal


Das Wiener Institut für Entwicklungsfragen (VIDC) hat 1997 im Rahmen des EU-Jahres gegen Rassismus die Kampagne "FairPlay. Viele Farben. Ein Spiel." gegründet. FairPlay ist auch Gründungsmitglied und zentrale Koordinationsstelle des europäischen Netzwerks "Football Against Racism in Europe" (FARE). Ziel dieses interkulturellen Projektes ist es, im Bereich Sport die Popularität und die Kraft des Fußballs zu nützen, um Rassismus und andere Diskriminierungen mittels Information über außereuropäische Fußballtraditionen zu begegnen. 1998-2005 wurden die Aktionsprogramme der FairPlay-Kampagne als Teil eines Kofinanzierungsprojektes mit der Europäischen Kommission.aus Mitteln der OEZA gefördert. Im September 2005 ist das EU-Projekt ausgelaufen. Die Aufbau- und Netzwerkarbeit des Projektträgers hat sich in den letzten Jahren durch Kontinuität, Innovation und Kooperation mit verschiedensten PartnerInnen ausgezeichnet.

Das vorliegende Projekt thematisiert den Ansatz "Sport & Entwicklung" mit dem Ziel einen stärkeren Dialog zwischen entwicklungspolitischen Akteuren (NRO, OEZA) und Sport-Akteuren (Verbände, Vereine, Aktive, SportexpertInnen) zu initiieren sowie eine breitere sportinteressierte Öffentlichkeit in Österreich über das Potenzial des Sports für einen umfassenden Entwicklungsprozess zu informieren. Das Projektvorhaben arbeitet in zwei Richtungen: Einerseits durch Reflexion und Diskussion auf Ebene der ExpertInnen im Rahmen einer internationalen Konferenz zu ¿Sport & Entwicklung' (Mai 2006) und andererseits durch breiter angelegte entwicklungspolitische Öffentlichkeitsarbeit zur Fußball-WM 2006 in Form von Medienarbeit und einer Diskussionsveranstaltung zu ¿Globalisierung, Entwicklung und Fußballkultur' (Mai 2006).

Das Projekt wird aus OEZA-Mitteln in der Höhe von Euro 18.232,00 ¿

(75 % des Gesamtprojektvolumens) gefördert.
